About Habitat for Humanity Northern Fox Valley
Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. As all affiliates, our mission is to build, rehab and preserve homes for qualifying families in our area. Founded in 1990, Northern Fox Valley focuses its efforts in Carpentersville, Elgin, St. Charles and the surrounding area.
Build/rehab twice the number of homes in half the time for partner families! We have built 60 homes in our first two decades. Our goal, 120 new homes or rehabs in our next decade, from 2011 through 2020. We are currenlly focused on rehabbing foreclosed and abandoned homes to help revitalize the neighborhoods in which we work. And to expand our mission to preserving affordable housing, we are helping homeowners in need rejuvenate the exterior of their existing homes through our "A Brush with Kindness" program. The program bolsters the pride of homeownership revitalizes the appearance of the neighborhood, encourages connections within the community, and helps preserve affordable housing stock.
You can help. We need support from volunteers, financial support, donated materials, and, and, and. If you want to help us and support this challenge, call our office (847) 836-1432 and tell us how you can help!
Our Homes are:
Simple.
Habitat houses are modestly sized -- large enough for the homeowner's needs, but small enough to keep construction and maintenance costs to a minimum.
Decent.
Habitat uses quality, locally available construction materials and meets all building codes. Experienced professionals and volunteers supervise house construction. Houses are designed to conform architecturally to the neighborhood.
Affordable.
The donated labor of volunteers and partner families, efficient building methods, modest house sizes and the no-profit, no-interest loan make mortgage payments affordable.

Organization Structure
Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley is governed by a Board of Directors and has active committees including Family Selection, Family Support Services, Construction and Fundraising. All of these activites are staffed by volunteers, who are the life blood of our organization and the foundation of our ability to control costs. The organization also benefits from the support of four partnerships which are groups of local churches, civic groups and businesses. Partnerships raise funds and mobilize volunteers to build one house per year. The four partnerships are:
- Joyful Hands (Barrington area)
- New Hope (Carpentersville/Dundee/Elgin area)
- Pottawatomie (St. Charles area)
- Spring of Life (Arlington Heights/Palatine area).
