HFHNFV to begin our third decade with an ambitious goal...twice the homes in half the time. 

In 2011, Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley entered into its third decade.  During our first 20 years, 60 homes were built or rehabbed. Our goal for the next 10 years is to completed 120 homes.  Twice the homes in half the time. 

Habitat for Humanity homes are built primarily through volunteer construction labor which helps keep the cost of the homes affordable for our buyers. Project directors, crew leaders and crew members are all volunteers.   

Volunteer Opportunities

The driving force behind the organization is its volunteers— those who contribute a day, a week, a few months, to give Habitat’s vision a tangible form.  Help build, serve on a committee, provide lunches at the construction site, help run our ReStore, assist in fundraising events, donate materials.

  • Project Leader:  Experienced construction professional or an amateur capable of running a build site, ordering materials, organizing work days and leading build activities..

A Great and Fun Opportunity, Help us Flex our Hammers: 

  • Site Host: As we expand our capacity, we now need site hosts at our new build sites. The site host welcomes the group to the site, gives a brief overview of Habitat and our local Affiliate (of course we provide training as required to the host) , helps with the collection of waivers, and gives out name tags. The host takes a group shot of the team for our web site so that HFHNFV can give group recognition.  This critical function sets the tone for the day. Its a great way to meet some great volunteers and of course the host can stay to enjoy the day for as long as they want.   Call our office (847) 836-1432 for details or send e-mail to bill.klaves@habitatnfv.org. 

Community and corporate groups

Volunteer days are available for community and corporate groups. Teams should call the Habitat for Humanity office at (847) 836-1432 to discuss opportunities, including our build day program.

Orientation Meetings 

Volunteer Orientation meetings provide information on Habitat for Humanity’s history, programs  and  a variety of volunteer opportunities.  If you are interested in volunteering, this is the best way to get infomration on our volunteer opportunities.  For corporate groups volunteering at our build sites, we hold mini-orientations prior to the start of the build day.
